Gibbons Receives 2014 Barr Award
GSC Assistant Professor of Spanish Dr. Megan Gibbons has been selected to receive the 2014 Pete and Betsy Barr Professional Development Award. Gibbons plans to use the award to attend the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Conference in San Diego this May.
Premium Night and Easter Brunch Scheduled at GSC
The staff at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College's Mollohan's Restaurant are preparing to host two special meals. The public is invited to both April's Premium Night on Thursday, April 17th from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. and the annual Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Annual GSC Literary Magazine Reading Slated
The reading will be held on Friday, April 11th at 4:00 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Multipurpose Room (315A). The reading will give the writers, poets, and artists a chance to bring their works to life in a spoken-word format. It will also include an open microphone session.
GSC Student Attends AIPAC Conference in Washington D.C.
For the second year in a row, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College student Travis Nesbitt has attended the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference in the nation's capital. He was also recently informed that he has been selected to take part in the Campus Allies Mission to Israel trip this summer.
Labor History Expert Wess Harris to Speak at GSC
Labor history expert Wess Harris will give a free lecture at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College on Tuesday, April 15th at 12:30 p.m. The presentation will take place in the GSC Heflin Administration Building Presidents Auditorium.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Receives Internationalization Technology Award
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College is one of three other schools that have been honored by the American Council on Education (ACE) and the State University of New York (SUNY) as a winner of their Advancing Internationalization Through Collaborative Online International Learning Award. The award recognizes vision and a commitment to develop and implement courses that align with models evolving at the SUNY COIL Center.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Students Participate in Research Day at Capitol
Four Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College students gave scientific presentations at the 11th Annual Undergraduate Research Day. The annual event was held on January 30th and is sponsored by the state's Higher Education Policy Commission Division of Science and Research and the West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts.
GSC Alumnus John Bird Receives Prestigious Forestry Achievement Award
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College alumnus John Bird has received the Graduate Forestry Technician Achievement Award of the Council of Eastern Forestry Technician Schools. The presentation was recently made by GSC Land Resources Professor Emeritus Rick Sypolt.
