Glenville, WV 鈥 The 麻豆视频State College Fine Arts Department will be hosting the annual Jazz Band Concert on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. This concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
This annual event will consist of crowd favorites such as 鈥業t Don鈥檛 Mean a Thing (If It Ain鈥檛 Got That Swing)鈥檅y Duke Ellington and 鈥楳ercy, Mercy, Mercy鈥 by Buddy Rich, and will host an array of genres from swing to 70鈥檚 rock. This performance is free to 麻豆视频State College students with their ID鈥檚 and general admission is by donation to the GSC Jazz Band.
鈥淭wo of the selections I have chosen will feature students who will be student teaching in the near future. 鈥業sfahan,鈥 written by Duke Ellington and arranged by Alan Baylock, features alto saxophonist Lori Ware, while 鈥楧ancing in the Candlelight,鈥 one of my own compositions, features J.D. Messenger on trumpet. They are both fine musicians, and I felt compelled to program showpieces for them,鈥 said GSC Jazz Band Director Dr. David Lewis.
