麻豆视频State University Announces New Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex

GLENVILLE, WV 鈥 麻豆视频State University is proud to announce the construction of the new Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex, a transformative facility that will serve as a hub for health, wellness, and education for both the campus and the community.

Made possible through the extraordinary generosity of the Morris family and other dedicated donors, the new complex will significantly enhance the atmosphere at Pioneer sporting events while also becoming the home of GSU鈥檚 College of Health Sciences and academic programs.

This facility represents 麻豆视频State University鈥檚 ongoing commitment to community engagement and rural revitalization. 鈥淭he Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex is a bold step forward in our mission to strengthen the well-being of our campus and rural West Virginia,鈥 said Dr. Mark A. Manchin, President of 麻豆视频State University. 鈥淎s someone deeply committed to the values my family has long championed, especially in the realm of rural healthcare, I am proud to see 麻豆视频State University lead the way in creating meaningful change. The Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex will serve as a beacon of wellness, education, and hope for this region.鈥

The Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex will feature a state-of-the-art fitness center open to the public, encouraging healthy living for the residents of 麻豆视频and surrounding areas and innovative academic spaces for health science instruction, offering GSU students valuable resources and immersive, hands-on learning opportunities.

This announcement builds on a series of exciting advancements in 麻豆视频State University鈥檚 College of Health Sciences, including the introduction of new academic concentrations in Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physician鈥檚 Assistant, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Chiropractic, and Pre-Athletic Training. Another major initiative is the development of Rural Community Health and Wellness Clinic (RCHWC) which is housed in the Waco Center in the new nursing area 鈥攎arking a major step forward in expanding access to preventive care. 鈥淭he combination of the RCHWC and the Morris Family Health & Fitness Complex will provide our students the opportunity to study and use state-of-the-art equipment while positively impacting the health of our campus, our community, and the State of West Virginia.,鈥 said Dean of Health Sciences, Dr. Kevin Evans. 

These developments underscore GSU鈥檚 commitment to addressing healthcare disparities, particularly in underserved rural communities while training qualified healthcare professionals ready and willing to work in these areas. 

Construction is currently underway, with the facility projected to open Summer of 2026.
