The Horse's Mouth
The Horse's Mouth was developed in 1942 by Mabel Wolfe to provide insight to the central West Virginia community about what local citizens were experiencing during World War II. It also provided a relaying of information from the home front to the soldiers. With help from the College’s student newspaper, The Mercury, and Â鶹ÊÓƵState College itself, this paper become a popular resource to the community and to our local men overseas. The Â鶹ÊÓƵState University Archives is lucky enough to have a complete collection of this newspaper, which ran from April of 1942 to September of 1945, and also many of the press releases and letters that were used in its creation. These materials were donated to us by the late Hunter Armentrout in 2006. We have provided a digitized version of this material, which has been made available to the public as part of the West Virginia Veteran's Legacy Project, through funding provided by the .
