鶹ƵState College Marching Band Members Reflect on Successful Season
Members of the 鶹ƵState College Pioneer “Wall of Sound” Marching Band have wrapped up their 2021 season. It was a successful season with the debut of new uniforms, the return of the band being able to play at home football games, and perform for the public.
Lowe to Serve as Field Commander for the Pioneer Marching Band
鶹ƵState College senior Kristina "Tina" Lowe will be serving as the field commander for the Pioneer ‘Wall of Sound’ Marching Band this semester. The Elizabeth, WV native is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a minor in business.
Pioneer Marching Band Marches on Amidst the Pandemic
The fall semester looks a little different at 鶹ƵState College this year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. For the Pioneer Marching Band, those changes have offered unique challenges moving forward.
Music Fest at GSC is October 16
鶹ƵState College’s annual Music Fest concert is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. This concert features nearly all of GSC’s ensembles in a potpourri of musical genres and styles.
Hacker to Serve as Field Commander for GSC's Marching Band
鶹ƵState College student Garrett Hacker will be serving as the field commander for the Pioneer ‘Wall of Sound’ Marching Band this semester. Hacker is trained as a percussionist and says his favorite to instrument to play is marimba but notes that his specialty is Timpani, due to its role in the band and orchestra. He also plays guitar, some bass and piano, and sings in the GSC Choir.
Lawson Selected as GSC Pioneer Mascot
Ronisha (Nish) Lawson, a freshman from Beckley, West Virginia, has been named the GSC Pioneer Mascot for the 2018-19 academic year.
