GSC Announces 2014 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµcoming Schedule
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College is gearing up to celebrate Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµcoming Week beginning Monday, October 6th. Honored guests will include GSC's former Pioneers, who will also serve collectively as Parade Marshal for the Saturday morning parade. Additionally, the Class of 1994 and Lambda Chi Alpha, Theta Xi, and Tau Kappa Epsilon members will be holding reunions.
GSC Bluegrass Band Annual Concert Tickets Now on Sale
Tickets are on sale for the annual Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Bluegrass Band Concert scheduled during Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµcoming Day 2014 on Saturday, October 11th in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:00 p.m. This year’s concert will feature Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top X-Press as guest performers.
Worl Exhibit Open Through September 19th
A reception to recognize the works of award-winning artist, Arlinka Worl, was held on Monday, September 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Spears Fine Arts Gallery. Worl's work will be featured until Friday, September 19th.
GSC Student Returns from Internship in Nashville
Bluegrass music major Toni Doman recently returned from a summer internship in Nashville, Tennessee with the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Doman, a senior from Cameron, WV, arranged her internship when visiting Nashville during a GSC-sponsored spring semester trip.
Pioneers Take Part in 'Ice Bucket Challenge' for ALS Awareness
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College students and staff are joining the likes of Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, former president George W. Bush, Reba McEntire, Kermit the Frog, and countless other Americans in a recent social media sensation – the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Move-In Day at GSC
Approximately 350 freshmen arrived on campus at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College on Friday, August 15th for the 2014 fall term. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College's class of 2018 is made up of students from throughout West Virginia, nine other states, and the District of Columbia.
GSC's Student Support Services Hosting Pioneer-a-Palooza
The staff of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College's Student Support Services will be hosting a free 'Pioneer-a-Palooza' open house on Thursday, August 21st beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. The event will include a barbecue, games, and a live concert featuring the band 3 AM Tokyo.
GSC Bluegrass Band Featured in National Magazine
The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Bluegrass Band was recently showcased in the July 2014 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. This nearly 50 year old publication circulates across the nation and is dedicated to preserving the culture and instilling traditions of the music.
GSC Partners with Shentel to Give Students Fastest Internet in the State
In anticipation of the upcoming school year Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College and Shentel, a Virginia-based cable and internet service provider, have announced a new partnership through which the broadband company will provide high quality cable and internet services to the institution.
