Davisson Brothers Band to Headline First Concert at GSC Waco Center

The August 30 Waco Center concert will begin with the band meeting fans and signing autographs from 6-6:45 p.m. Music is scheduled to start at 7. Students with an I.D. (from any school) will be admitted free of charge. Otherwise, the cover change is $10.

Pioneers Take Part in 'Ice Bucket Challenge' for ALS Awareness

GSC's Student Support Services Hosting Pioneer-a-Palooza

The staff of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College's Student Support Services will be hosting a free 'Pioneer-a-Palooza' open house on Thursday, August 21st beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. The event will include a barbecue, games, and a live concert featuring the band 3 AM Tokyo.

GSC Again Offering Evening Classes in Braxton County

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College is continuing its tradition of offering a wide array of evening classes in Braxton County to accommodate students who might have difficulty making it to the GSC campus to take classes during the day. Several weekly evening Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College courses are scheduled to be held this fall at Braxton County High School in the Braxton County Center.

GSC Employee, Reservist Named Texas Warrant Officer of the Year

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College's Printing Services Specialist Todd Faber has been mobilized as part of the U.S. Army Reserves for the past two years. As a Chief Warrant Officer 2, he was recently recognized as the Texas Warrant Officer of the Year by the Reserve Officers Association of the United States.

GSC Professor to Perform at County Historical Society

Jason Barr, Assistant Professor of Music at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College, will hold a free performance at the Gilmer County Historical Society on Thursday, July 17th. Barr's appearance at the meeting will provide the audience with a brief musical history of jazz.

GSC Invites Community to Help Welcome Incoming Students

On Friday, August 15th, new students will be welcomed to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College (GSC) for the 2014-2015 academic school year. To help the new students learn about the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµcommunity - including local businesses, churches, and other groups that might interest them - GSC is hosting a Campus Picnic & Community Fair.

Five Inducted into Hall of Fame at GSC

Five individuals were inducted into the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Curtis Elam Athletic Hall of Fame during the college's annual Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony on Saturday, May 31st. The 2014 inductees were: Bob Turner, Keith Pritt '58, Fred Taylor '60, Charles "Bernie" Buttrey '76, and Kent Pilant '97.

GSC ROTC Cadets Participate in Battle of Bulltown Staff Ride

Members of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Army ROTC program recently took part in a 'Staff Ride' at the Bulltown Historic Area located in Braxton County, West Virginia. A Staff Ride is an opportunity for members of a military organization to study historic operations and apply current principles, while fostering a sense of camaraderie with their brethren of the past.

Swimming Lessons Being Held at GSC

Swimming lessons soon will be held at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College for local residents. Sign-ups will take place Tuesday, June 17th, Wednesday, June 18th, and Thursday, June 19th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the GSC Pool, located in the basement of the Physical Education Building. Student swimming abilities will be tested during sign-ups.
