Free FAFSA Assistance at GSC

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Financial Aid employees are again hosting College Goal Sunday, on Sunday, February 15th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Robert F. Kidd Library. The event allows students and families to receive free, confidential support in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). GSC's event will be one of twenty-four similar workshops held across the Mountain State.

GSC Receives Instrumentation Grant from Weyerhaeuser

The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Land Resource Department recently was awarded its third grant from the Weyerhaeuser Company to purchase forestry tools to be used in GSC’s Forest Technology program. This year’s grant follows those awarded in 2011 and 2012, and will be used to purchase a laser dendrometer, a device used when estimating the area and volume of a forested plot.

'Wear Red Day' Luncheon Moved to February 19th

All are invited to join Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College and the American Heart Association for the 12th anniversary celebration of 'Wear Red Day.' The GSC campus will be the site of a free luncheon on Thursday, February 19th at 12:00 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. The event will be one of many scheduled around the state and nation to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke, which kills one in three women in America.

Asturian-American Painters Showcased in GSC Gallery

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College is currently showcasing the paintings of artist Art Wagner, but with a twist. His exhibit also includes pieces by his mother Honnie Wagner and his grandfather Emilio Alvarez for a dynamic show that encompasses around 100 years of culture and history in West Virginia's Asturian communities that got their start in the early 1900s. The show is on display in the GSC Fine Arts Center Spears Gallery and an opening reception is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 26th from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Premium Night Scheduled for January 21st at GSC

GSC's Early Education Student Group Participates in the Gift of Giving

Members of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Early Education Student Group recently compiled gift boxes for the First Baptist Church of Glenville's Shoebox Ministry. The 15 donated Christmas packages were filled with items for children in Gilmer County.

GSC Brass Ensemble to Perform at Charleston Town Center Mall

The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Brass Ensemble will again be entertaining shoppers at the Charleston Town Center Mall on Saturday, December 20th with a selection of holiday music. They will be performing from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Macy’s Court in the mall on what is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year, the Saturday before Christmas.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Battle of the Bands Competition

Winter Jazz Concert is December 5th at GSC

Members of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Jazz Band are preparing for their winter concert, which will take place on Friday, December 5th at 7:00 p.m., in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The first half of the concert will feature jazz and swing music from artists including Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and Artie Shaw. The second half will feature Christmas tunes performed in a jazz style.
