Representatives from both GSC and Gilmer County Schools are planning to hold a joint press conference on Tuesday, September 25th at 10:00 a.m. at Gilmer County High School. The purpose of the press conference is to announce the funding of two new scholarships that will allow eight students to attend GSC every year.

Pleasants County native Allison Drane received the Student Leadership Award during the 137th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Drane graduated with a English Education (5-12) degree.

The 2011 Â鶹ÊÓƵState College Faculty Award of Excellence was presented to Dr. Fred Walborn during the 137th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Walborn has taught in the Social Science Department for seven years.
