GSC Students Judge at FEA Conference
Six Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College education students and student teachers recently served as judges at the West Virginia Future Educators Association (FEA) Spring Competitive Events Conference. The conference, held at Stonewall Resort, was an opportunity for high school students to compete in topics that included children's literature, exploration of various educational careers, impromptu speaking, lesson planning, technology, and more.
GSC Planning Open House March 21st
Future Pioneers are invited on Saturday, March 21st from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. to participate in the upcoming Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Spring Open House in the Mollohan Campus Community Center.
Morris Selected for Summer Research Fellowship
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Gary Morris has again been selected to participate in the West Virginia Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) Summer Fellowship Program. In addition to the 2015 fellowship, he was also chosen to take part in the program back in 2011 and 2012.
Free Income Tax Preparation Assistance at GSC
Free assistance is being offered again through a Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College accounting course to help students, faculty, staff, and local residents file their basic federal and West Virginia income tax returns. Two options are available to qualifying taxpayers - 'MyFreeTaxes' and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Free File.
GSC Political Science Professor Publishes Book
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Michael Bobic, recently published a book titled 'With the People's Consent: Howard Baker Leads the Senate 1977-1984.'
Ritenour Holding Senior Vocal Recital at GSC
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College student vocalist Renee Ritenour will be performing her senior recital on Saturday, February 14th at 4:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
GSC Student Researcher Receives Chi Beta Phi Grant
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College junior Tia LeMaster received a Carl T. and Merewyn D. Meadors Research Grant from Chi Beta Phi, a national science honorary. She will use the grant to purchase equipment to supplement her STEM research in organic chemistry under the direction of GSC Professor of Chemistry Dr. Kevin Evans.
New Health & Human Performance Programs Available at GSC
Students at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College now have the opportunity to take classes in the field of Health and Human Performance and major in three new programs: exercise science, health promotion, and athletic conditioning and coaching.
GSC Team Advances to Business Plan Competition Finals
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College freshman Rachel Brown, a Pre-Nursing major from Summersville, West Virginia has landed a spot in the West Virginia Collegiate Business Plan Competition (WVCBPC) finals. Brown and her teammate, Andrew Hamilton, have developed what they call a personal safety application for smartphones.
Free FAFSA Assistance at GSC
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Financial Aid employees are again hosting College Goal Sunday, on Sunday, February 15th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Robert F. Kidd Library. The event allows students and families to receive free, confidential support in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). GSC's event will be one of twenty-four similar workshops held across the Mountain State.
