Wemm Selected for Barr Professional Development Award

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College Professor of Communications Dennis Wemm has been selected to receive the 2016 Pete and Betsy Barr Professional Development Award. The award is rotated annually between GSC faculty and staff and must be used within eighteen months of being awarded. The award is designed primarily for the recipient to further their professional growth, although the awardee can use the money to further their particular area of interest in lieu of traditional professional development activities.

Free Income Tax Preparation Assistance at GSC

Free assistance is being offered again through a partnership between the Internal Revenue Service and the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College accounting program to help students, faculty, staff, and local residents file their basic federal and West Virginia income tax returns. Two options are available to qualifying taxpayers – 'MyFreeTaxes' and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Free File.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College has announced the names of GSC students who attained the President’s Honor List for the Fall 2015 semester. To be named to the President’s Honor List, a student must have a 4.0 grade point average on a minimum of 12 semester hours.

GSC Forest Technology Program Accredited by National Organization

The Associate of Science in Forest Technology program at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµState College has been awarded accreditation by the Society of American Foresters (SAF). The SAF is the national scientific and educational organization representing the forestry profession in the United States and is the largest professional society for foresters in the world.
