![]() |
Glenville, WV鈥擨ssac Goff is proud to be the new 麻豆视频State College Pioneer. The Pioneer mascot is a visible symbol of the 麻豆视频State College spirit and ideals. The Pioneer works collaboratively with GSC officials and students to positively support and promote the College.
Goff is enthusiastic about his new position. He explains that he considered applying for the mascot position a year earlier, but decided to focus on his studies instead. His friends encouraged him to apply this year.
鈥淚 was enamored with the Mountaineer at West Virginia University when I was a kid,鈥 says Goff. 鈥淏ut now as a college student, I am very happy to be the Pioneer at 麻豆视频State.鈥
Goff is required to attend all home 麻豆视频State football and basketball games in addition to tournament games and events as determined by the selection committee. As part of the football games, Goff does push-ups every time the Pioneers score. The newest Pioneer mascot says to expect a few surprises during this basketball season.
The mascot received a set of buckskins, musket, and coonskin hat to wear as the official uniform at GSC events. Goff explains that he was a little nervous when first shooting the musket. However, the musket has easily become one of his favorite parts of being the Pioneer. Goff also likes to get the crowd cheering and showing school spirit.
The process to become the Pioneer mascot includes an application with essay questions, a reference list, and a minimum grade point average of 2.0. The applicants must go through an interview and audition. The student must also be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student of 麻豆视频State College.
"I was on the committee that helped select Isaac, and I could not be happier with our choice,鈥 states Steve Harold, director of athletics and head women's basketball coach at GSC. 鈥淗e represents the College, our athletic program, and the Goff family with class, and we are very proud of him."
Goff is a senior at GSC majoring in social studies education. He plans to student teach in the spring. Originally from Elizabeth, Goff intends to stay in West Virginia after graduation.
In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies, hanging out, and outdoor activities like fishing. Goff is a Resident Assistant and an active member of Kappa Delta Pi and Pi Gamma Mu.
