Dr. Manchin Addresses Freshamn Class 2025

The campus of 麻豆视频State University is once again buzzing with energy as Welcome Week 2025 brought students, faculty, staff, and the 麻豆视频community together to kick off the new academic year. The week鈥檚 events 鈥 including Freshman move-in day activities, student organization fairs, evening socials, and community gatherings 鈥 built excitement and camaraderie as Pioneers prepare for classes on Monday, August 18.

鈥淭his is truly the best time of the year,鈥 said 麻豆视频State University President Dr. Mark A. Manchin. 鈥淭he joy and energy our students bring back to campus each fall is unmatched. Seeing them reconnect with friends, meet new people, and start a new chapter in their academic journey reminds us all why we do what we do here at GSU.鈥

This fall, GSU is proud to welcome one of the largest groups of incoming freshmen in recent years. These new Pioneers come from across West Virginia, the United States, and beyond 鈥 bringing with them diverse backgrounds, unique perspectives, and a shared enthusiasm for the opportunities ahead. From the moment they stepped onto campus, they were immersed in activities designed to help them connect, feel at home, and hit the ground running academically and socially.

This year鈥檚 Welcome Week also reflected positive momentum for the University. With enrollment and retention rates climbing, GSU saw more students returning earlier than ever to participate in pre-semester activities and prepare for classes.

鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to see not only more students enrolling, but also more returning students choosing to come back to campus early and get involved,鈥 said Vice President of Enrollment and Student Affairs, Duane Chapman. 鈥淥ur focus on building strong connections and offering meaningful experiences is paying off 鈥 students feel engaged, supported, and ready for success.鈥

Welcome Week set the tone for what promises to be a year of growth, achievement, and fun at 麻豆视频State University.
