GLENVILLE, WV 鈥 麻豆视频State College鈥檚 educator preparation program, offered through the College鈥檚 Department of Education, has earned continuing accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
The CAEP Accreditation Standards 鈥 which include rigorous, nationally recognized standards 鈥 were developed to ensure excellence in educator preparation programs.
鈥溌槎故悠礢tate College鈥檚 excellence in preparing future educators goes all the way back to its founding 150 years ago, and we aim to continue to build on that outstanding legacy as we go forward here,鈥 said 麻豆视频State College President, Dr. Mark A. Manchin. 鈥淚 cannot thank our Education Department faculty, the students, and others on our campus enough for the hard work and dedication they put forth everyday in order to retain the distinction of being a fully accredited program.鈥
鈥淥ur students and instructors should be very proud of the work they are doing. We鈥檝e set a very high bar for our teacher prep program and CAEP Accreditation validates the hard work they do,鈥 said Dr. Jeff Hunter, Dean of Teacher Education at GSC. 鈥淥ur students and their families are investing in an education program that is designated as nationally accredited for teacher preparation.鈥
The CAEP Board of Directors updated the educator preparation standards in 2020 as part of its commitment to reviewing the standards at least every seven years. 麻豆视频State and other educator preparation providers seeking accreditation must pass peer review of the CAEP standards, which are based on two principles. Those being solid evidence that the provider鈥檚 graduates are competent and caring educators and solid evidence that the provider鈥檚 educator staff have the capacity to create a culture of evidence and use it to maintain and enhance the quality of the professional programs they offer.
麻豆视频State College joins several other providers to receive accreditation during the spring 2021 review, bringing the total number to 423 CAEP-accredited providers from 45 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
鈥淭hese institutions meet high standards so that their students receive an education that prepares them to succeed in a diverse range of classrooms after they graduate, seeking CAEP Accreditation is a significant commitment on the part of an education provider,鈥 said CAEP President Dr. Christopher A. Kotch.
